Reading
Reading well takes time and patience. Read the right books and type of texts. Figure out the type of text you have (textbook, manual, newspaper, short story, novel, etc.) and highlight key words or concepts that will help you determine the deeper meaning of what you’re reading. Reading aloud or repeating after a recorded text will also help you improve your pronunciation.
Writing
Become a critical writer and think actively about how texts are structured and what kind of phrases are used for different purposes (e.g. introducing a topic, describing, comparing and contrasting, writing conclusions).
Listening
Listen to Greek music / radio and watch a few movies in Greek every week. Be engaged in different types of listening situations (conversations, chatting, lectures, etc). Try to identify your listening weaknesses and work on improving those areas. Listening will help you improve your understanding of the language and your pronunciation.
Speaking
Find a Greek-speaking conversation partner. It is important to find native speakers to practice with and be understood without difficulty. Developing your speaking skills will involve gaining fluency in spoken interactions with others, as well as practicing your pronunciation.
